The Department of Finance was founded in 1995, and the first undergraduate students in the direction of finance were recruited in 1996. The organization has been changed through the Department of Economics and the Institute of Financial Engineering and Risk Management, and has built up a financial training system with a perfect disciplinary support system, distinctive features and strong competitiveness.

With the formal enrollment of undergraduates majoring in finance in 2003, the teaching team of finance has entered a stage of rapid development. The Department of Finance has 20 full-time faculty members, forming a faculty team with a reasonable structure, fruitful teaching and research achievements with 60% of senior titles, 95% of doctoral degrees, 25% of young faculty members under the age of 35, and 2 special professors from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the United States.

The final employment rate of finance majors is over 98%, and the final acceptance rate of postgraduate students and the rate of going abroad is stable at more than 50%, among which there are many top universities in Britain and the United States, such as Oxford University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and other famous universities, and every year, more than ten students are guaranteed to be sent to the "double first-class" or domestic famous financial institutions for postgraduate study.
