Academic Master

Management Science and Engineering (First-Level Discipline)

Established in 1953, this discipline obtained master’s authorization in 1981 and doctoral authorization in 1986 (among the first in East China). A postdoctoral research station was founded in 1998. It has been successively recognized as a key discipline by the former Ministry of Coal Industry (1995), Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline (2002), and a National “211 Project” key construction discipline.
It is also listed as a Jiangsu Advantage Discipline (2018).
The discipline received a B+ rating in both the 2017 and 2022 Ministry of Education evaluations, ranking among the top 20% nationally in 2023 according to Shanghai Ranking.
After more than 30 years of development, it has become a nationally influential discipline with distinctive strengths in energy, resource, environmental, and safety management.


Business Administration (First-Level Discipline)

The Business Administration discipline was granted master’s degree authorization in Accounting in 1993, in Business Management in 1998, in Technological Economics and Management in 2000, and first-level master’s degree authorization in 2011.
It currently has 56 full-time faculty members, including 15 professors and 26 associate professors; 94.6% hold doctoral degrees, and 55.3% are under 45 years old.
This discipline underpins several provincial platforms, including the Jiangsu Energy Economics and Management Base, the Jiangsu International Energy Policy Research Center, and the Jiangsu Safety Management Research Center.
It supports two Jiangsu Provincial Excellent Innovation Teams, one MOE experimental zone for accounting education innovation, and one Provincial Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching in Economic Management.
It also hosts two National First-Class Majors, one National Specialty Major, and four Provincial Key/Brand Majors.
In the fifth national discipline evaluation, it received a B rating.


Applied Economics (First-Level Discipline)

CUMT was granted first-level master’s degree authorization in Applied Economics in 2010, with four second-level programs: Finance, Quantitative Economics, Industrial Economics, and International Trade.
The discipline was designated a university-level key discipline during the 12th Five-Year Plan.
It conducts research aligned with national strategies and key economic issues, with strengths in energy and environmental economics, industrial organization, monetary and fiscal policy, and green finance.

The faculty includes 36 members (8 professors, 12 associate professors, 17 lecturers), with 6 doctoral supervisors and 21 master’s supervisors; 19 have overseas experience, and 7 have been selected for provincial or ministerial talent programs.
In the past five years, the discipline has undertaken 20 national projects, over 60 provincial projects, and 100 other competitive research projects, published 200+ academic papers, including several ESI highly cited and hot papers, and received 10+ provincial awards for excellence in philosophy, social sciences, and teaching.
