New Semester, New Journey: Focusing on Details to Enhance Teaching Quality

Published on: March 4, 2026 Views:

At the beginning of the new semester, Li Xinchun, Party Secretary of SEM, and Ding Zhihua, Dean of SEM at China University of Mining and Technology, led members of the School’s leadership team in conducting a special inspection for the “First Class of the Semester.” The inspection focused on faculty attendance, student participation, and classroom teaching during the first sessions of the new term.

On the first day of the semester, 32 faculty members delivered a total of 42 class sessions in SEM. Instructors were well prepared and arrived in their classrooms at least ten minutes before the start of class to make teaching arrangements. During the lectures, many instructors actively utilized smart teaching tools such as Rain Classroom and Chaoxing Learning (Xuexitong), creating a lively classroom atmosphere with active interaction between teachers and students.

To ensure the smooth and orderly launch of teaching activities, the School leadership attached great importance to the start of the semester. During the first two days of classes, members of the leadership team and teaching supervisors conducted in-class observations. After the sessions, they communicated with instructors about teaching methods, course content, and other related issues.

SEM has consistently placed strong emphasis on academic atmosphere and teaching quality. By focusing on every detail of classroom instruction and implementing a closed-loop quality assurance mechanism—“supervisor classroom observation – teacher feedback – student evaluation”—the School continues to strengthen its teaching standards.

Moving forward, SEM will further promote the “Teaching Detail Enhancement Initiative,” striving for excellence in every class session. Through continuous improvement in teaching practices, the School aims to steadily enhance the quality of talent cultivation and provide solid educational support for the university’s Double First-Class development strategy.
