On the morning of October 29, 2025, SEM held a Youth Faculty Development Forum—“Experience Sharing Session on National Natural Science Foundation / National Social Science Foundation Youth Project Applications” in Meeting Room B503. Four young faculty members who successfully received funding for Youth Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC) in 2025 shared their experiences. More than 30 young faculty members attended the session. The meeting was chaired by Professor Jiang Hongyan, Associate Dean, and Professor Chen Feiyu, Director of the Office of Disciplines and Talents.

The four young faculty members shared their experiences in sequence:
Dr. Liu Rong provided a systematic explanation of project topic selection, basis for project establishment, research content, innovations, research plan, title and abstract preparation, as well as detailed issues to consider.
Dr. Gao Tianzhi, drawing on his experience applying for NSFC and Ministry of Education projects, shared strategies from multiple dimensions including topic selection strategies, writing techniques, attention to details, and continuous accumulation.
Dr. Hou Xiaoran elaborated on four aspects: planning the application timeline, determining the research topic, key points in writing various sections, and mindset adjustment.
Dr. Cheng Zhang focused on sharing his experience applying for NSSFC projects, emphasizing the important support provided by the expert demonstration meeting organized earlier by the School in confirming his research topic. He also provided detailed explanations of topic direction, writing framework, and innovation design for NSSFC applications. The atmosphere at the meeting was lively.

At the conclusion of the forum, Associate Dean Jiang Hongyan encouraged young faculty members to align their thinking, attitude, and actions at a high level. She emphasized that faculty members should not only fully understand the significance of project applications for personal development and disciplinary advancement, but should also plan systematically and advance their work with a strong sense of urgency.

The Youth Faculty Development Forum is a supportive initiative launched by SEM to provide a platform for the growth of young faculty members. It aims to bring together high-quality resources from inside and outside the university, promote exchanges and discussions among young faculty, and facilitate rapid development in various aspects. Over the past two years, young faculty members have made noticeable progress in teaching, research, and other areas through this forum. In the future, SEM will continue to promote this activity, fully support, and actively guide the growth and development of young faculty members.
