On October 12, the Qingdao Alumni Association of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) held the inaugural meeting of its Second Council. Vice President and Executive Vice President of the CUMT Alumni Association Li Qiang attended the event, together with representatives from relevant university departments and nearly one hundred alumni from Qingdao. Deputy Dean Ran Hongtao, Director of the Alumni Office Wang Lianghong, and staff member Qiao Yidan from SEM also participated. The meeting was chaired by Yan Jia, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Qingdao Alumni Association and an alumnus of the 1997 Marketing cohort.

At the meeting, Vice President Li Qiang extended his congratulations on the successful election of the new council and shared updates on the university’s recent achievements in faculty development, undergraduate and graduate education, discipline advancement, and alumni relations. He emphasized that alumni represent the brand and reputation of the university, while alumni associations serve as crucial bridges connecting alumni with their alma mater and with one another. Li expressed hope that the Qingdao Alumni Association would continue strengthening its organization, actively mobilizing alumni resources, and showcasing the spirit, innovation, and responsibility of CUMT graduates in Qingdao—a hub of technological innovation—thus contributing to the university’s goal of building a world-class institution in energy and resources.

On October 13, Deputy Dean Ran Hongtao, Director Wang Lianghong, and staff member Qiao Yidan, together with Qingdao alumni Yan Jia (Class of 1997, Marketing), Zhang Dong (Class of 1999, Modern Secretarial Studies), Dang Jinquan (Class of 2000, Business Administration), Wang Bin (Class of 2002, Marketing), and Feng Yingchun (Class of 2003, Marketing, Xuhai College), conducted alumni research and enterprise visits. The delegation visited Rubber Valley Group Co., Ltd., Qingdao Kechuang Yunlian Information Technology Co., Ltd., and Hisense Group Holdings Co., Ltd.

The first stop was Rubber Valley Group Co., Ltd., where alumnus Yan Jia (Class of 1997, Marketing), now Deputy General Manager of Qingdao Chuangzhi Shanhai Cultural Industry Development Co., Ltd., warmly welcomed the delegation. Liu Zhenni, General Manager of the Operations Center, and Li Kai, Deputy General Manager, gave a detailed overview of the company’s development history, product applications, research and innovation, public services, international cooperation, and union initiatives. Their presentation provided a comprehensive view of the company’s strong industrial position and broad development landscape, offering the delegation a deeper understanding of the enterprise’s influence within the sector.

The second visit was to Qingdao Kechuang Yunlian Information Technology Co., Ltd., where alumnus Wang Bin (Class of 2002, Marketing), now General Manager of the company, received the delegation warmly. Drawing on his own career journey, he introduced the company’s business scope, supply chain management model, client structure, and the technological advantages and service features that have helped it stand out amid fierce industry competition. His presentation offered the group an in-depth perspective on the company’s operations and development strategies.

The final stop was Hisense Group Holdings Co., Ltd., where alumnus Xia Feng (Class of 1994, Industrial Foreign Trade), currently Director of the Strategic and Change Management Department, greeted the delegation. He guided the group through Hisense’s modern office environment and smart product exhibition area, introducing the company’s organizational structure, long-term strategic planning, and the many honors earned through years of innovation in R&D and brand building. The visit highlighted Hisense’s strategic vision and industry leadership, while also showcasing the significant contributions of CUMT alumni to corporate development.

This visit to Qingdao alumni enterprises not only strengthened communication between the School and its alumni but also deepened mutual understanding and emotional bonds. Going forward, the Alumni Office will continue improving alumni services, promoting deeper collaboration between the school and its alumni, and facilitating mutual growth among alumni themselves. In doing so, it will contribute both to the professional success of alumni and to the School’s mission of advancing talent cultivation, discipline development, and social engagement—achieving shared progress through enduring alumni connections.
