    Professor Li Shuang’s National Major Talent Project Workstation Officially Established

    Recently, the “National Major Talent Project — Professor Li Shuang’s Workstation” was officially established at the School of Economics and Management, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT). The workstation is jointly supported by the Provincial-Ministerial Key Research Base — Institute of Safety Science and Emergency Management at CUMT, and the Risk Management Committee of the China Coal Society.

    The team consists of a distinguished group of experts, including 5 academicians as academic advisors, 19 professors, 27 associate professors, 56 young scholars, as well as experts from various government departments, enterprises, and institutions. It brings together interdisciplinary expertise spanning Mining Engineering, Safety Science and Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, and Computer Science and Technology, making it a vital force in China's coal mine safety management research.

    Focusing on national strategic demands and cutting-edge international academic developments, the workstation is committed to addressing key scientific challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration and technological innovation. It aims to build a world-class academic research team with global influence, dedicated to advancing China’s energy security strategy.

     

     

     

     

     

    Professor Li Shuang

    Professor Li Shuang is the first scholar from the School to be selected for the National Major Talent Project. She is a second-level professor at CUMT, doctoral supervisor in both Safety Science and Engineering and Management Science and Engineering, and serves as Director of the Institute of Safety Science and Emergency Management.

    She also holds various prominent positions, including:

    • Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Risk Management Committee, China Coal Society

    • Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Safety Production Supervision Technology and Management Systems (Ministry of Emergency Management)

    • Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory for Rock Burst Disaster Prevention and Control (National Mine Safety Administration)

    She serves as:

    • Guest Editor of the Journal of China University of Mining and Technology

    • Editorial Board Member of the China Journal of Safety Science

    • Recognized as a Leading Talent in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province

    • Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Science & Technology Leader in Jiangsu Province

    • Outstanding Coal Technology Worker

    • Recipient of the National Youth Coal Science and Technology Award

    • Top Woman in Coal Mine Intelligentization

    • Former Visiting Scholar at the University of Nottingham, UK

    • Member of the Xuzhou CPPCC Standing Committee

    Prof. Li specializes in areas such as safety technology and engineering, dual prevention mechanisms, intelligent risk prevention and control, digital safety supervision, and smart mining. She has led over 60 national and provincial-level research projects, including CUMT’s first national-level project on smart mines, and has received over 20 major science and technology awards. She has also:

    • Led the development of over 50 industry and local standards

    • Been granted 100+  patents and software copyrights

    • Authored 30+  academic books and 100+ high-quality research papers

    • Produced 20+ policy advisory reports adopted by key national departments such as the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and Xinhua News Agency

    Prof. Li has built an internationally leading smart safety system for coal mining, and her innovations have received recognition from national ministries, provincial governments, and the China National Coal Association. Her research has been successfully applied in more than 3,000 institutions across China, generating significant economic and social impact, and achieving major technological breakthroughs.

    Among her accomplishments, research on dual prevention mechanisms for coal mine safety ranks nationally leading, and was the only safety-related achievement selected in the Top Ten Advances in Coal Mine Intelligentization. Her work has supported the construction of dual prevention systems in major coal-producing regions such as Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shandong, and Xinjiang.

    She has delivered 50+ lectures for government agencies and over 120 training sessions for coal enterprises, achieving widespread application of smart risk prevention systems in key provinces. Her contributions have significantly enhanced the new quality of coal productivity, while improving occupational health and working conditions for miners.

     

    The “National Major Talent Project — Professor Li Shuang’s Workstation” will continue to uphold the mission of serving China’s energy security, rooted in intelligent safety research, and strive to deliver high-quality scientific outcomes that contribute to the modernization of China’s safety governance system and governance capacity.
