To further strengthen the synergy of party-building alliances, integrate union work through party leadership, and truly serve faculty and students by bringing medical resources to campus, the School of Economics and Management, in collaboration with Xuzhou First People's Hospital, hosted a joint activity series titled “Stay True to the Mission, Promote Health, and Support Development.” The event, which featured a health lecture, dental consultation, and a health salon, was held on the afternoon of March 28 in Rooms B117 and B106 (Health Station) of the School.
The activity was co-organized by the Administrative Party Branch of the School of Economics and Management, the Fourth Branch of the General Office Party Committee of Xuzhou First People's Hospital, and joined by the Student Affairs Office Party Branch. Over 100 participants, including Jiang Haining, Vice Chair of the University Labor Union, Ran Hongtao, Vice Dean of the School, Kong Yi, Deputy Director of the Hospital’s Cooperation and Development Office, as well as party members and faculty-student representatives, attended the event, which was chaired by Vice Dean Ran Hongtao.
The event began with a brief introduction by Yu Ze, Secretary of the Administrative Party Branch, who outlined the background and significance of this 27th joint party-building activity. Jiang Haining then delivered a welcome speech, expressing her heartfelt appreciation to the visiting medical experts. She highly praised the thoughtful planning, excellent timing, and practical content of the event, calling it a meaningful integration of party-building efforts and actual needs. She encouraged all participants to stay actively engaged in health activities and maintain both physical and mental vitality in their academic and professional endeavors.
The first session featured a lecture by Dr. Yang Jianfeng, Director of the Department of Cardiology at the First People's Hospital, entitled "Understanding and Preventing Heart Attacks" (Lecture #16). He offered a comprehensive overview of coronary heart disease, its risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, emergency response, and preventive care. Following that, Dr. Wang Nuan, Director of the Department of Neurology, presented "Understanding and Preventing Stroke" (Lecture #17), focusing on stroke statistics, identifying symptoms, and prevention strategies.
The second session consisted of an on-site dental consultation provided by the hospital’s dental team. Services included oral examinations, caries prevention guidance, periodontal disease consultation and treatment, wisdom teeth assessment, and screening for common maxillofacial conditions and implant-related inquiries.
The third session was a health salon titled "Decoding Body Signals: A Scientific Approach to Health Management" (Salon #2). General practitioners helped participants interpret key health indicators from medical reports and translated these "digital signals" into actionable preventive measures.
In conclusion, Vice Dean Ran Hongtao emphasized that good health is the foundation of effective work and study. This joint activity was designed to offer professional health guidance and services to enhance awareness and self-care capabilities among faculty and students. He expressed hope that such initiatives would encourage healthier lifestyles across campus.
The event received strong support from the university’s labor union, the school, and the First People’s Hospital, as well as enthusiastic participation from faculty and students. School Dean Ding Zhihua and Vice Dean Jiang Hongyan attended the event to offer their support and guidance. Feedback from attendees highlighted the innovative format and practical content of the “Lecture + Consultation + Salon,” noting its effectiveness in raising awareness about disease prevention. The branch will continue to innovate joint activities and deepen health service offerings to empower faculty and students to contribute to the university’s development with sound physical and mental health.
