On the afternoon of March 7, a delegation from the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, including Dean Zu Daqing, Associate Dean Liu Tingting, Chair of the German Department Chang Bo, Deputy Chair Zhang Yanfang, and Director of the Teaching Office Liu Jieru, visited the School of Economics and Management (SEM) for an in-depth exchange on interdisciplinary collaboration and joint program development.

Dean Ding Zhihua of SEM extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. Associate Dean Jiang Hongyan introduced the School’s recent initiatives aimed at aligning talent cultivation with the evolving demands of the AI era.

The discussion then focused on the opportunities and challenges faced by humanities and social sciences disciplines in the new era. Both sides engaged in a lively exchange of ideas, drawing on their respective experiences to explore innovative pathways for the future development of liberal arts majors.

Through this productive dialogue, both parties reached a consensus on strengthening collaboration in academic program construction and faculty resource sharing. In particular, they identified promising prospects for pilot cooperation between the German Studies program and the International Economics and Trade program — a cross-disciplinary initiative that will promote the integration of language and economics. This collaboration aims to support the cultivation of globally competent, interdisciplinary talents with strong intercultural communication skills.

In conclusion, both sides expressed their commitment to deepening the integration between their academic programs and fostering further collaboration.
