To enhance the preparation for 2025 national-level project applications and improve the quality of submissions, the School of Economics and Management organized the second round of application guidance for the National Natural Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Social Science Foundation (SSF) on January 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The event featured renowned professors, including Professor Huang Lucheng from Beijing University of Technology, Professor Hao Yu from Beijing Institute of Technology, Professor Xu Jun from Jiangsu Normal University, Professor Song Xuefeng, former president of China University of Mining and Technology, and Professors Lü Tao, Jiang Hongyan, Wang Zhining, Mi Lingyun, and Sun Ziyuan from the School.

The first group NSF session was chaired by Dean Ding Zhihua. He highlighted the remarkable achievement of 20 approved projects under the National Natural Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation in 2024, the highest in the school's history. Dean Ding attributed this success to the targeted guidance sessions provided by experts and the meticulous efforts of applicants in refining their proposals. He encouraged applicants to remain confident, cherish the rare opportunity to consult experts in person, and strive for even greater success in 2025 applications.

Associate Dean Wang Delu emphasized that this round of guidance aims to help applicants clarify the overall logical structure of their proposals and enhance the standardization, rigor, and coherence of their content. He urged NSF applicants to stay updated on relevant policies and key funding areas highlighted by the National Natural Science Foundation Committee. For SSF applicants, he stressed the importance of accelerating the drafting process, actively participating in the school’s multiple guidance sessions, and aligning their proposals with national strategic needs and pressing issues.

A total of 25 applicants were divided into three groups and engaged in in-depth discussions with experts in rooms B503, B403, and B419. The experts provided valuable advice on restructuring proposal logic, refining scientific questions, articulating research content precisely, and adhering to proper writing standards.

This guidance session follows the topic evaluation session held in late October 2024 and represents the school’s second round of application assistance. In late February, the school plans to invite renowned external experts for peer reviews to further improve the quality of submissions.
