In 2024, SEM adhered to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guiding principle, thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee. By comprehensively implementing the Party’s new requirements for building in the new era and deepening the integration of Party-building and business, the School achieved remarkable results in governance, Party-building, faculty development, education, talent cultivation, discipline construction, scientific research, social service, international collaboration, and student affairs, with the support of university leaders and all staff members’ dedication.
Governance
Focusing on the rational allocation of “incentive resources and guaranteed resources,” the School emphasized key areas such as postgraduate admissions, textbook development, course construction, and talent cultivation. Eighteen institutional frameworks, including the High-Level Achievement Development Plan and the Graduate Supervisor Recruitment Qualification Audit Guidelines, were introduced or revised, ensuring equity, fostering a harmonious campus environment, and enhancing governance.
Party-Building
The School integrated Xi Jinping Thought into its core operations, advancing Party-building comprehensively. Political literacy and Party ethics among faculty and students were significantly improved. Achievements included 169 new activists, 44 development candidates, 88 probationary members, and 93 members confirmed as full Party members. Recognitions included exemplary Party branches, awards for outstanding Party members (6 individuals), and excellent Party workers (1 individual). These accomplishments further solidified the School's leadership in Party-building.
Faculty Development
Efforts to recruit globally included visits to 12 cities and over 30 universities, resulting in the successful introduction of 20 new faculty members, including 4 associate professors and 7 lecturers. Notable achievements included one faculty member being named a Jiangsu Province “Cultural Talent,” and multiple recognitions in prestigious talent programs like the Yangtze River Scholars Program.
Education and Teaching
Key educational initiatives included updating the 2024 curriculum and advancing dual-degree programs in management and engineering. The School gained recognition with four provincial first-class courses and national first-class course recommendations, as well as awards in various teaching competitions.
Talent Cultivation
Students excelled in academic and extracurricular achievements, securing 35 awards in provincial and national competitions. Seven dissertations were recognized as outstanding in Jiangsu Province, and one student received the honor of “Most Beautiful College Student in Jiangsu Province.”
Scientific Research
The School secured 11 national-level projects, 8 Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences projects, and numerous provincial and industry-level research grants. Additionally, faculty received accolades for research excellence, further solidifying the School's reputation in academia.
Discipline Construction
The School hosted major academic events, including the Energy Productivity Strategy Seminar and forums on green marketing and energy economics. Self-evaluation of six degree programs was successfully completed, paving the way for continued development and excellence in academic disciplines.
Social Services and Impact
The School’s external engagement resulted in 39 collaborative projects, generating over ¥32 million in research funding. Prestigious recognitions included top rankings for its MBA programs, enhancing the School’s influence and social contributions.
International Collaboration
The School expanded partnerships with institutions such as the University of Aberdeen and Queen’s University, while advancing joint programs in France, Canada, and the United States. Key milestones included submitting AACSB initial evaluation reports, reflecting the School's commitment to global engagement.
Student Affairs
The School's Youth League Committee earned national recognition, and various student projects and organizations achieved awards at provincial and university levels. Faculty advisors also received distinctions for their dedication to student development.
