    Department of Big Data and Management Science Conducts Academic and Professional Development Research Activities

    To further clarify professional orientation and training objectives, as well as to enhance professional development and talent cultivation quality, faculty members from the Department of Big Data and Management Science—Wang Huaqing, Zhang Ming, Tong Peng, Xia Qing, Gan Dali, and Wang Di—visited Shenzhen University and Guangdong University of Technology from December 10 to 13, 2024. During the visit, the team engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with faculty members from these universities on topics such as big data program development, management science and engineering discipline construction, and high-level talent cultivation.

    On the afternoon of December 11, the delegation visited the School of Management at Shenzhen University. Professors Qin Quande, Guo Hainan, and Fan Bi, along with other key faculty members from the Management Science and Engineering Department, participated in the discussions.

    Professor Qin warmly welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the school’s disciplinary layout and current development. Professor Wang Huaqing from our department introduced the construction, student training, and course development of the Big Data program. Both sides then engaged in in-depth exchanges on discipline and program development, faculty team building, student training, teaching management, and employment entrepreneurship. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen future cooperation to cultivate high-quality talent in big data management.




     

    On the afternoon of December 12, the team visited the School of Management at Guangdong University of Technology. The meeting was attended by the school’s Vice Deans, Professors He Yong and Liu Guosheng; Data Science and Business Intelligence Department Chair, Professor Zhang Yanlin; Associate Professor Ai Danxiang; and Lecturer Zhang Jianqiong.

    Professor He extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of the school’s academic structure and the status of management science and engineering discipline construction. Vice Dean Liu Guosheng shared insights into professional development, student cultivation, and employment outcomes. Professor Zhang Yanlin provided a detailed presentation on the training framework, course construction, program characteristics, and talent cultivation mechanisms of the Big Data Management and Applications program.

    Professor Zhang Ming from our department introduced the development of management science and engineering at our university and the current status of the Big Data Management and Applications program. Both sides exchanged views on topics such as faculty team building, laboratory construction, curriculum development, program features, teaching research, thesis supervision, and employment needs. The delegation also toured the laboratories and practical training platforms at the Guangdong University of Technology’s School of Management.



     

    This research trip deepened the team’s understanding of discipline and program positioning, curriculum development, student training models, and practical teaching reforms. It also provided clearer insights into talent cultivation and employment entrepreneurship, reinforcing the urgency and necessity of building the Big Data Management and Applications program.

    The experience instilled a strong sense of responsibility and urgency among the faculty to enhance program development and talent cultivation. Moving forward, the Big Data Management and Applications faculty will work cohesively to improve teaching and research capabilities, contributing to the continued excellence of the discipline and program.
