Closing Address by Dean Ding Zhihua
Dean Ding Zhihua concluded the seminar with a summary speech, underscoring that discipline development is the cornerstone of the school’s existence and growth. Acknowledging the significant challenges currently faced, he called for heightened awareness of potential risks and a sense of urgency. Dean Ding outlined five key requirements for future work:
1. Benchmarking with Evaluation Systems: Align with discipline evaluation and Soft Science indicator systems to clarify development directions and objectives and prepare for the upcoming sixth round of discipline evaluations.
2. Strengthening "Discipline Thinking": Integrate discipline development into all aspects of the school’s operations, including talent cultivation, program development, faculty advancement, talent recruitment, and research.
3. Enhancing Accountability: Foster a sense of responsibility, ensure clarity in roles and tasks, and encourage every faculty member to actively participate in discipline development.
4. Promoting Discipline-Program Integration: Establish a synergistic relationship where programs support disciplines, and disciplines, in turn, enrich programs. Build an integrated "discipline-program" structure and a "talent cultivation, program development, discipline growth" system.
5. Focusing on Future-Oriented Talent Cultivation: Highlight digital intelligence and industry-specific features by integrating elements like artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and machine learning into the economics and management programs. Develop a unique model for cultivating talents in economics and management in a digital-intelligence context.
Significance and Future Plans
This seminar on discipline development strategy is a key initiative for the school’s growth. It not only identified current challenges but also set a clear direction for the future. The seminar is of great importance in unifying thoughts and focusing on high-quality development.
Next, the school will further refine its strategic planning, clarify tasks, and implement concrete measures to fully advance discipline development efforts. The goal is to achieve breakthroughs in discipline rankings and continuously usher in new opportunities for reform and development.
