To enhance undergraduate students' overseas study and practical experience, and broaden their international perspectives, SEM held an information session for the 2025 overseas study and summer camp programs on the evening of September 20. The event took place in the Bo 2-C202 classroom, with the participation of all 2024 undergraduate students as well as some students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts. The session was hosted by Zhou Hongxiao.
The event began with a welcome speech from Vice Dean Jiang Hongyan, who introduced the background and significance of the School's carefully crafted "3+1" program. She highlighted that in today's globalized world, education is no longer confined by borders, but serves as a bridge for cultural exchange and global connections. She emphasized that the future belongs to those with a global vision, cross-cultural communication skills, and innovative spirit. The overseas summer camp program, she explained, provides students the opportunity to immerse themselves in different cultures, interact with people from all over the world, and explore new ideas. Finally, Vice Dean Jiang encouraged students to seize this opportunity and take bold steps toward embracing the possibilities that lie ahead. She wished the event success and hoped that every student with dreams would find their own stage to shine.
Following Vice Dean Jiang's speech, Zhang Yifan, the project leader, provided a detailed introduction to the overseas study and summer camp programs. She emphasized that the upcoming summer camp activities would offer students the chance to engage with international scholars and industry experts, helping them adapt to overseas academic environments and prepare for future academic pursuits.
Additionally, 2012 alumnus Hu Xueping shared his experiences from studying abroad in the UK, discussing the advantages of personal practice, gaining an international perspective, and improving language skills. His online talk greatly inspired the students.
In the final part of the session, Vice Dean Jiang Hongyan summarized the event. She reiterated the School's strong commitment to international education, encouraging students to actively use the resources and platforms available to them in order to enhance their international competitiveness. She reminded students to align their career plans and life goals with the opportunities provided by the overseas study and summer camp programs, striving to become well-rounded, outstanding individuals with strong core competitiveness in the new era.
In recent years, SEM has placed a high priority on cultivating internationally-minded talent. The school actively expands students' international exchange opportunities, seeks out overseas educational resources, strengthens overseas study collaborations, and broadens students' global perspectives through international partnerships and joint academic programs. This enables students to increase their awareness of internationalization, guiding them toward becoming globally competitive individuals with a comprehensive skillset.
