    SEM Successfully Held 2024 Teaching Competition

    To improve teaching quality and promote educational innovation within the college, the School of Economics and Management held the 2024 Undergraduate Teaching Competition on September 4 in B408 of the Economics and Management Building. The competition was organized by the college's Undergraduate Teaching Management Office, and judges included Professor Wang Xiangting (University's Undergraduate Teaching Supervisor), Professor Bian Heping (Member of the University's Undergraduate Teaching Advisory Committee), and Professor Cheng Zhihong (Jiangsu Province Teaching Master).


    Before the competition began, Vice Dean Jiang Hongyan delivered a speech, encouraging participating teachers to use this teaching competition as an opportunity to promote education through competition, update and upgrade teaching concepts and methods, and enhance the overall quality of teaching to better improve talent cultivation. Vice Dean Jiang also encouraged teachers nominated for the university's teaching competition to represent the college and achieve excellent results in the university-wide competition. Several young faculty members from the college attended the competition as observers.

    The teaching competition consisted of two tracks: the Classroom Teaching Track and the Teaching Innovation Track. A total of 13 teachers participated in the competition after recommendations from various departments, with 8 teachers participating in the Classroom Teaching Track and 5 teachers in the Teaching Innovation Track. The participating teachers delivered lectures on 13 different courses, including "Monetary and Financial Economics," "Big Data Collection and Management," "Investment Banking," "Auditing," "Cross-border E-commerce," "Securities Investment," "History of China's Foreign Trade," "International Trade Geography," "Market Research," "Economic Law," "Public Relations Management," "Business Decision-making and Entrepreneurial Simulation," and "Consumer Behavior."

    In the Classroom Teaching Track, the evaluation panel scored based on three components: teaching design, on-site lesson demonstration, and live teaching. For the Teaching Innovation Track, the evaluation was based on the report of innovative teaching outcomes and the live presentation of the innovation.

     

    Judges Provide On-Site Feedback to Participants

     

    To help participants improve their teaching methods, the judges gave each teacher objective and comprehensive feedback, covering aspects such as content selection, teaching methods, language expression, and teaching demeanor. They highlighted strengths, pointed out areas for improvement, and encouraged teachers to reflect on their experiences, further study various teaching aspects, and continuously enhance their teaching levels. After fierce competition, 10 teachers were selected to participate in the university-level competition.


    This teaching competition provided a platform for faculty members to showcase their individual teaching abilities and levels. It offered a comprehensive demonstration of their teaching fundamentals, course design, teaching methods, classroom management skills, and innovation. It also helped teachers delve deeper into course content, optimize course design, and improve course quality and teaching effectiveness. Both participants and observers expressed that the event was highly beneficial and served as a great model for improving classroom teaching.
