From June 7 to 8, at the invitation of the School of Management at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Ding Zhihua, Dean of SEM at CUMT, along with Ji Feng, Deputy Director of the MBA Education Center and MBA Discipline Leader, and Zhang Yifan, Director of the China-Canada MBA Program, visited UQAM’s School of Management.
On the morning of June 7, Dean Ding and his delegation first held discussions with Dr. Kamran Saeed, Dean of UQAM’s School of Management, Dr. Francie Rodrigue, Vice Dean, Dr. Karma Baona, Director of the EMBA Program, and Professor Nashirun, Coordinator of the China-Canada International MBA Program. Dean Saeed warmly welcomed Dean Ding and his team, noting that the collaboration between UQAM’s School of Management and CUMT’s School of Economics and Management in running the MBA program has been ongoing for 20 years. He expressed his hopes for deepening cooperation with CUMT in areas such as student training, credit transfer, summer schools, and AMBA accreditation, with the aim of enhancing mutual exchanges in education and research.
Dean Ding introduced CUMT’s School of Economics and Management, emphasizing its vision of becoming a leading national and internationally renowned school of economics and management, with a particular focus on energy and resources. He expressed a desire to further enhance the school’s international profile through continued cooperation with top-tier North American institutions like UQAM. Dean Ding further expressed hopes for expanding cooperation to include undergraduate and master’s programs, faculty exchange, joint research, and other areas, fostering mutually beneficial development. The two sides also exchanged views on a series of issues related to the operation of the China-Canada MBA program, optimizing the admissions process and course development.

Dean Ding and his team toured UQAM’s new Management School building and MBA classrooms on the afternoon of June 7. They also participated in a development exchange salon for MBA students and international students. During the event, Dean Ding had extensive discussions with international students from Canada, France, Spain, and other countries, introducing them to the development of CUMT’s School of Economics and Management and inviting them to visit CUMT for further academic exchanges.

Later in the evening, Dean Ding was invited to attend the UQAM Management School Graduation Ceremony. He joined UQAM President Stéphane Pallage, Dean Kamran Saeed, EMBA Program Director Karma Baona, and Professor Nashirun to witness the graduates’ moment of glory. Several representatives of the China-Canada MBA Program from CUMT, including Zhang Lei, Liu Yue, and Qin Feng, also participated in the ceremony. During the event, President Stéphane Pallage and Dean Ding had a friendly exchange. President Pallage reaffirmed his continued support for the development of the China-Canada MBA program at CUMT, and Dean Ding thanked him for his contributions during his tenure as Dean of UQAM’s Management School and his ongoing support for the project as President.

On the morning of June 8, at the invitation of the Consulate General of China in Montreal, Dean Ding and his delegation visited Consul General Dai Yuming. Consul General Dai warmly welcomed them, noting that Canada was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, and the two countries have maintained mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, culture, and education. He emphasized that the China-Canada MBA program, which has been running for 20 years, is a model of educational cooperation between the two countries. The Consulate General expressed its willingness to further strengthen the China-Canada friendship and continue to promote the mutual development of the program.
Dean Ding introduced the economic development and industrial positioning of the Huaihai Economic Zone, particularly the city of Xuzhou, and reviewed the growth of the China-Canada MBA program over the past 20 years, highlighting the support from local consulates and other parties. He emphasized that the China-Canada MBA program will continue to promote friendly cooperation between the two schools and actively publicize the achievements of their exchanges and cooperation, contributing to the deepening of Sino-Canadian friendship.

In the afternoon of June 8, Dean Ding and Professor Nashirun engaged in further discussions on advancing the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at CUMT’s School of Economics and Management. Dean Ding explained the necessity of launching the DBA program, referencing the feedback and research data from nearly 4,000 alumni of CUMT’s MBA and China-Canada MBA programs. The two sides had an in-depth exchange regarding the development of the DBA program, including its educational models and mechanisms.
