    Faculty of Data Science Department Conducts Academic Visits to Universities in Chengdu and Dalian

    To better plan the development goals for the discipline during the 15th Five-Year Plan period and strengthen exchanges with leading domestic universities in discipline development and talent cultivation, the Faculty of Data Science Department conducted a series of academic visits to universities in Chengdu and Dalian, including Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Dalian University of Technology, and Dalian Maritime University.

    On November 21, Professor Wang Huaqing, Professor Zhang Ming, Dr. Wang Di, and Dr. Liu Feng visited the School of Management Science and Engineering at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics for a thematic discussion on the development of the Big Data Management and Application major. Professors Shuai Qinghong, Shen Minyu, and Su Yingsheng attended the meeting. Professor Su shared the university’s experience in program positioning and curriculum system design, and both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including AI-enabled teaching, industry–education integration, and distinctive talent cultivation models.

     

       On the morning of December 11, the delegation visited the School of Economics and Management at Dalian University of Technology. Professor Guo Yanhong, head of the Big Data Management and Application program, and Ms. Li Hui participated in the meeting. Professor Guo warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and introduced the program’s discipline structure, talent cultivation system, and recent progress in program development. Professor Wang Huaqing also presented an overview of the program at our School, including the student training mechanism, curriculum framework, and the implementation of undergraduate thesis projects. Professor Zhang Ming further shared insights on career guidance for students, internship and practical training programs, university–enterprise collaboration models, and current challenges. Both sides then held in-depth discussions on faculty development, innovation in talent cultivation models, and the integration of practical teaching resources, expressing a shared commitment to further cooperation in cultivating high-level interdisciplinary talents in big data management with global competitiveness and the capacity to meet national strategic needs.

     

     

    On the afternoon of December 11, the delegation visited the School of Shipping Economics and Management at Dalian Maritime University. Mr. Lang Kun, head of the Big Data Management and Application program, along with faculty representatives Mu Xiangwei and Jin Guangying, participated in the meeting. Mr. Lang welcomed the delegation and introduced the school’s disciplinary structure and current development status. Mr. Mu and Ms. Jin then provided a detailed overview of the undergraduate training program, distinctive curriculum design, and talent cultivation mechanisms. Professor Wang Huaqing introduced the development of the program at our School, while Associate Director Zhang Ming exchanged views with the hosts on curriculum design, faculty development, and laboratory construction. The two sides also held comprehensive discussions on program 特色 development, curriculum optimization, teaching research, undergraduate thesis supervision, and labor market demand.

     

    This series of visits represents an important initiative by the Faculty of Big Data Management Science to advance discipline development and enhance innovative talent cultivation mechanisms. Through on-site visits and in-depth exchanges, the delegation gained valuable insights that will contribute to the further optimization and improvement of the Big Data Management and Application program. The faculty will continue to expand cooperation with high-level universities both in China and internationally, actively promoting the development of the discipline and contributing to the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative
