    China University of Mining and Technology 2012 MBA Alumni Homecoming Symposium Successfully Held

    On the afternoon of November 22 at 1:00 p.m., CUMT 2012 MBA Alumni Homecoming Symposium was successfully held in Room B117 of SEM. Attending the event were: Associate Dean Ran Hongtao of SEM; former Deputy Director of the Organization Department of CUMT Hu Qiong; Director of the Alumni Office of SEM Wang Lianghong; Secretary-General of the CUMT MBA Alumni Association Chen Yong; Executive Deputy Secretary-General Gong Tao; and faculty members including Zhou Min, Wen Xiaohui, Tang Anbao, and Lei Qiong and Zhu Boyang from the MBA Education Center. Faculty and alumni of the 2012 MBA cohort gathered together to reconnect, share memories, and discuss future development. The symposium was hosted by Professor Ji Feng, Deputy Director of the MBA Education Center and Head of the MBA Program.

    At the beginning of the symposium, Associate Dean Ran Hongtao delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the School. First, he warmly welcomed the 2012 MBA alumni returning to their alma mater after more than a decade and extended sincere gratitude for their long-standing support of the School. He then presented the School’s development achievements over the past decade, with particular emphasis on key accomplishments of the MBA program:

    • In international accreditation, the program successfully passed the AMBA accreditation in June 2020, received a five-year AMBA reaccreditation in October 2023, and simultaneously earned the BGA Gold Accreditation, marking a significant breakthrough in international certification.

    • In admission scale and quality, the program has expanded steadily, enrolling 151 students in 2024 and 175 in 2025.

    • In teaching quality and influence, the discipline of Business Administration was elevated in the Fifth National Discipline Evaluation. From 2019 to 2024, the MBA program was included in the “China Business School Best MBA Programs TOP100” list for six consecutive years.

    Next, Chen Yong, Secretary-General of the CUMT MBA Alumni Association, delivered a speech. He introduced the development history, organizational structure, and recent activities of the Alumni Association and emphasized its vital role as a bridge connecting alumni and their alma mater. He sincerely invited the 2012 MBA alumni to join the Association, share resources, promote mutual development, and contribute collective strength to the growth of the School and university.

    Professor Zhou Min, representing MBA faculty, then spoke. She fondly recalled memorable moments from the 2012 cohort’s time on campus and expressed heartfelt happiness for the achievements they have made in various industries over the past decade. She encouraged alumni to stay connected with their alma mater, visit often, continue supporting the development of MBA education, and maintain strong bonds with faculty and students.

    Finally, Wang Dayan, General Manager of Zoomlion Global Supply Chain Management Center and representative of the 2012 MBA alumni, delivered remarks. On behalf of all returning alumni, he expressed sincere gratitude for the guidance and cultivation received from the university. He shared his professional journey and reflections since graduation, noting that the knowledge and thinking skills acquired during the MBA studies laid a solid foundation for his career. He stated that he would always uphold CUMT’s spirit and continue contributing to the development of the School.

    In the second stage of the symposium, the interactive session between faculty and alumni pushed the atmosphere to its peak. First, Li Gang, General Manager of Yuanling Group and 2012 MBA alumnus, and Cheng Xiaoqing, General Manager of Suzhou Xinmai Technology Co., Ltd. and also a 2012 alumnus, shared insights from their enterprise management practices, analyzing industry trends and offering forward-looking perspectives. During the following alumni sharing session, each returning alumnus gave a short speech, discussing career development, personal reflections, and offering suggestions on improving MBA education quality and enhancing alumni resource connections. The room was filled with applause and laughter.

    In the third stage of the symposium, Hu Qiong, former Deputy Director of the Organization Department of CUMT, delivered a thematic lecture titled “Wisdom Leads, Seek the Path Within.” Drawing on her rich management experience and life insights, she discussed career planning, mindset elevation, and value orientation, offering profound inspiration for alumni’s future development and receiving warm applause from all participants.

    The successful conclusion of the 2012 MBA Alumni Homecoming Symposium not only rekindled the deep bonds between teachers and students but also established a platform for meaningful communication between alumni and their alma mater. Through this event, alumni gained a comprehensive understanding of the School’s and MBA program’s development achievements, further strengthening alumni cohesion. Moving forward, the School of Economics and Management will continue deepening alumni engagement, improving the alumni liaison mechanism, and promoting mutual empowerment between alumni and the university in talent cultivation, research collaboration, and resource sharing, jointly writing a new chapter of high-quality development.
