To plan the School’s development path under the “15th Five-Year Plan” and to effectively strengthen and support the growth of young faculty, the School of Economics and Management held a symposium on the 15th Five-Year Plan and Young Faculty Development on September 10 in Meeting Room B503. Dean Ding Zhihua, Associate Deans Jiang Hongyan, Wang Delu, and Ran Hongtao, discipline leaders, department chairs, and office directors attended the meeting, which was presided over by Dean Ding Zhihua.

Dean Ding Zhihua exchanged views and made arrangements regarding the School’s 15th Five-Year Plan and young faculty development. First, he discussed the overall goals of the School’s 15th Five-Year Plan and introduced the idea of an “integrated discipline–program” approach. Each first-level discipline will draft its sub-goals aligned with the School’s overall development goals and prepare an integrated plan that links disciplines with academic programs. Second, the School will launch a series of initiatives to promote the growth of young faculty, tailoring support to their needs and the characteristics of their disciplines and programs. This includes assigning teaching mentors and research mentors, as well as establishing a system of leadership contact. The mentors will provide precise guidance in areas such as research, project topic selection and funding applications, and the enhancement of teaching skills, thereby assisting young faculty in their professional development. Third, the School will broaden pathways for attracting high-level talent, fully tapping into the potential of outstanding young faculty, strengthening the recruitment of overseas talents, and advancing both external recruitment and internal training to comprehensively promote the development of high-level talent. In addition, Dean Ding also engaged with faculty members on key issues including the establishment of a strategic advisory committee, the development of humanities laboratories, and matters concerning admissions and employment for first-level disciplines.

At the meeting, Associate Deans Jiang Hongyan, Wang Delu, and Ran Hongtao each made arrangements regarding the work under their responsibilities.
