    SEM Successfully Hosts the 2024 (9th) Green Consumption and Green Marketing Symposium

    From November 15-17, the 2024 (9th) Green Consumption and Green Marketing Symposium was successfully held at the Nanhu Campus of China University of Mining and Technology. The event was co-hosted by our university and the China Association for Market Studies, with the School of Economics and Management serving as the organizer and the Big Data Marketing and Green Innovation Research Center as a co-organizer. Over 280 experts and scholars from dozens of universities, research institutions, and enterprises gathered to explore the theme of "Green Consumption and Green Marketing Innovation in the Digital Era." They discussed the latest research findings on topics such as green consumption, smart marketing, and low-carbon development, while jointly exploring new paths for environmental protection and sustainable development from the perspective of behavioral science.

    Li Qiang, Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology, attended the conference and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the university, he warmly congratulated the successful convening of the conference and extended a warm welcome to the leaders and scholars in attendance. He briefly introduced the university’s history and development and noted that the university has made significant contributions to the national dual-carbon strategy and ecological civilization construction, as well as industry transformation and upgrading. The university has conducted in-depth research on various economic and management issues related to carbon peak, carbon neutrality, and green development, and has achieved outstanding results in the fields of digital green transformation, green consumption, and green marketing. He expressed hope that this academic symposium would deepen the university’s exchange and cooperation with various sectors of society, contributing to the advancement of green development and the construction of a beautiful China.


    Following Vice President Li’s speech, Professor Wang Tao, President of the China Association for Market Studies and a leading talent in the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program" from Wuhan University, delivered a speech on behalf of the association. Professor Guo Rui, Director of the Green Consumption and Green Marketing Special Committee of the China Association for Market Studies and Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), spoke on behalf of the committee. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Ding Zhihua, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at China University of Mining and Technology.

    The conference included two keynote speeches and nine parallel thematic forums. In the first half of the keynote session, Professor Wen Chuanhao, a chief expert of a major National Social Science Foundation project, President of the Chongqing Regional Economics Association, and Director of the Green Consumption Economics Committee of the Consumer Economics Society, gave a keynote titled "Green Development Logic of China-Singapore Intergovernmental Cooperation Projects and Its Implications for Comprehensive Green Development in Yunnan Province."


    Professor Long Ruyin, Chief Expert of the National Social Science Foundation Major Project and Zhishan Scholar at Jiangnan University, delivered a report titled "Artificial Intelligence and Green Consumption Research." Professor Wang Jianming, Director of the Research Department at Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics and Chief Expert of the National Social Science Foundation Major Project, gave a presentation titled "Expanding and Upgrading Green and Low-Carbon Consumption: Market Insights, Deep Issues, and Promotion Strategies." Professor Wang Shouyang, Distinguished Research Fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, Academician of the International Academy of Systems and Control, and Specially Appointed Professor of Changjiang Scholars, presented on "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Social Development and Research Topics Worth Attention in Marketing and Business Management." Professor Guo Rui, Director of the Green Consumption and Green Marketing Special Committee and Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), presented on "From Green Consumption Willingness to Behavior: A GREEN Research Framework." Professor Sheng Guanghua from Jilin University presented a keynote titled "Constructing a Green Consumption Smart Ecosystem and Driving Mechanisms."


    The first half of the conference was chaired by Professor Jiang Hongyan, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management at China University of Mining and Technology, Professor Mi Lingyun of the China Association for Market Studies, and Professor Liu Manzhi from the same school.

    In the second half of the keynote session, Professor He Aizhong, Leader of the Business Management Discipline in Hunan Province, Vice President of the Hunan Marketing Association, and Professor at Hunan University, gave a report. Professor Sun Yan, Researcher at the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech on "Ecology, Environment, and Green Consumption," focusing on ecological and environmental psychology. Professor Geng Liuna, Executive Director of the Chinese Social Psychology Association and Vice Director of the Ecology and Environment Professional Committee, spoke on "Consumer Psychology and Green Consumption in the Digital Era." Professor Chen Kai, Deputy Director of the Green Consumption and Green Marketing Special Committee and Professor at Beijing Forestry University, presented a report on "Fostering Green Consumption: A Path to Sustainable Consumption Behavior." Professor Sun Jin, a National Youth Talent under the "Ten Thousand Talents Program" and Associate Professor at the University of International Business and Economics, delivered a report on "Green Consumption in the Digital Economy: Insights and Challenges." Professor She Shengxiang from Guangzhou University of Business and Economics, a Deputy Director of the Green Consumption and Green Marketing Research Center, gave a presentation titled "AI and Green Marketing: The Role of Digital Transformation." Other participants included Professor Yan Lei, Carbon Trading Director at Green Puhui Technology (Beijing), and Professor Wu Yan, General Manager of Qingtian Industrial Internet Co., Ltd.

     

            

    Second Half of the Keynote Session

     

    The parallel forums focused on topics such as new production capacity and green technology innovation, sustainable consumer behavior, green marketing, and the intersection of green and digitalization. More than 120 experts, scholars, and graduate students presented excellent papers on these topics. The academic atmosphere at the conference was vibrant, with lively discussions and exchanges.


    On the morning of November 17, conference participants visited the Pan'an Lake area in Jiawang District, Xuzhou City, for a green development investigation. This field trip reflected President Xi Jinping’s important speeches, showcasing the transformation of collapsed areas into national wetland parks and the green transformation practices in creating beautiful landscapes.
