On June 1, 2024, during the 115th anniversary celebration of China University of Mining and Technology, alumni from the Accounting Class of 1990 returned to campus for the reunion marking 30 years since their graduation. On this occasion, they donated ¥54,300 to the Wang Zhifang Accounting Education Development Foundation. Together with previous contributions, the class has cumulatively donated ¥128,350.98 to the Wang Zhifang Inspirational Scholarship.
The donation ceremony was held at the South Lake Kai Lai Hotel. The donations were received by Hou Xiaohong, Director of the Wang Zhifang Accounting Education Development Foundation, and Liu Jianyong, Head of the Accounting Department. Attending the ceremony were Vice President Li Qiang, Vice Dean Zhu Xiaodong of the School of Economics and Management, former Party Secretary Hu Qiong of the School of Economics and Management, and Wang Lianghong, Director of the Alumni Association and former Head of the Audit Office, as well as the Class of 1990’s faculty advisor and several of their former instructors.
Vice President Li Qiang delivered a speech, warmly welcoming the alumni and expressing gratitude for their generous donation. Additionally, the Class of 1990 presented a calligraphy artwork as a gift to the School of Economics and Management during the ceremony.
The Wang Zhifang Inspirational Scholarship was established in 2012 with the aim of supporting academically outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Over the past 12 years, the scholarship has awarded funds to 120 students, with a total distribution of over ¥200,000. The scholarship’s establishment and sustained operation have been supported by university and school leadership, as well as enthusiastic participation from numerous alumni. Every year, alumni contribute through the foundation’s WeChat mini-program and its official website.
