26, April 2024, in order to further promote SEM AACSB accreditation process and complete the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) as scheduled, SEM held a meeting to promote the AACSB Standard 5 Assurance of Learning for Bachelor's Degree Program. SEM Dean Ding Zhihua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Sun Yunxiao, Vice Dean of Teaching and Learning, Jiang Hongyan, directors or deputy directors of academic departments, and various teachers from the Office of Undergraduate Teaching and Learning, the Office of Student Work, and the Office of International Affairs attended the meeting. The promotion meeting was hosted by Mr Wang Bangjun from the International Affairs Office.
Firstly, on behalf of the International Accreditation Office, Mr Wang Gangjun expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders, academic departments, sections, and teachers of accredited course construction for their support of the international accreditation work! Secondly, he briefly introduced the composition of the AACSB Accreditation Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) and the nine accreditation standards. Then focus on the topic of undergraduates AoL, the participants discussed several important issues and carried out work distribution.
At the meeting, Dean Ding Zhihua pointed out that obtaining AACSB accreditation is not only an important hand in promoting international cooperation, but also enables the SEM to identify the gaps with international business schools through international accreditation which drives continuous improvement at the school and promotes the construction and development of the school, disciplines and majors. Vice Secretary Sun Yunxiao made suggestions on the specific details of the work tasks and said that the Student Affairs Office would actively cooperate with the Accreditation Office. Vice President Jiang Hongyan said that international accreditation is an important part of the school's international development, and that the task of accreditation is tedious, which requires a clear division of work tasks among departments and offices to ensure the smooth implementation of accreditation.
In the future, the Accreditation Office will steadily promote the accreditation-related work in accordance with the latest accreditation standards and strive to complete the iSER for AACSB accreditation as soon as possible!
Introduction to AACSB International Accreditation
Founded in 1916, AACSB is a global non-profit business education consortium that aims to unite outstanding educators, students, and businesses to achieve the common goal of cultivating the next generation of outstanding leaders. AACSB has become synonymous with high standards for quality business schools (schools of management) due to its long history of accreditation, rigorous review standards, and high-impact accreditation system, and is the world's premier accrediting body for business and accounting disciplines. AACSB adopts a special implementation by the Association, the voluntary participation of institutions of higher management education, academic accreditation of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degree programs at all levels of the applicant's academic accreditation, which is aimed at encouraging business schools to take the responsibility of improving business practices, focusing on students' achievements, and focusing on the leadership of advanced concepts. The rigor of its accreditation system and the high standard of its accreditation are the most authoritative and valuable among the three major international accreditations for business education (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA). Up to now, 1,004 institutions from 62 countries and regions around the world have been accredited by AACSB, accounting for only 6% of the world's business schools (management schools).
