On the afternoon of January 6, 2026, SEM hosted a special event under the CUMT Health Station Series, themed “Dual Engines of Party and Union Leadership: Integrating Medical Care and Education to Safeguard Health.” The event took place in Lecture Hall B117 and featured a health lecture and multi-disciplinary free medical consultation for faculty members and students.

The event was organized by the CUMT Trade Union, jointly hosted by the SEM Party Branch of Administrative Offices, the SEM Trade Union, and the SEM Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, with support from Xuzhou First People’s Hospital.

Distinguished guests included Chen Zhongyuan, Chair of the CUMT Trade Union; Jiang Haining, Vice Chair of the CUMT Trade Union; Yin Haitao, President of Xuzhou First People’s Hospital; and Li Xinchun, Party Secretary of SEM. Nearly 200 faculty members and students, along with medical experts and representatives from both institutions, attended the event. The program was chaired by Ran Hongtao, Vice Dean of SEM.

The event opened with a short video titled “Red Leadership, Health Protection,” which highlighted the five-year collaboration between the administrative Party branch of SEM and the Party organization of Xuzhou First People’s Hospital. The video showcased past joint initiatives, including free medical consultations and collaborative service activities, setting the tone for the event’s theme of integrating Party building and healthcare services to promote well-being on campus.

In his opening remarks, Chen Zhongyuan warmly welcomed the medical experts from Xuzhou First People’s Hospital and expressed appreciation for the hospital’s continued support in providing healthcare services to CUMT faculty and students. He emphasized that the Health Station initiative reflects the university’s commitment to faculty and student well-being and represents a meaningful outcome of university–hospital cooperation. Chen noted that the university will continue to expand targeted and diversified health service programs, raise health awareness among faculty members, and create a campus environment that prioritizes health and well-being.

Yin Haitao, President of Xuzhou First People’s Hospital, expressed his gratitude for the trust and support from the university community and briefly introduced the hospital’s medical services and specialties. Speaking from both his perspective as an oncology specialist and hospital administrator, he encouraged faculty and students to develop healthy habits early in life and emphasized the importance of recognizing that health is the foundation of all achievements. He also expressed the hospital’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with CUMT to provide regular health education and professional medical services.

During the Dean’s Lecture Session, President Yin delivered a presentation titled “Understanding Cancer Through Science.” Using questions such as “Is cancer always incurable?”, “Is cancer mainly hereditary?”, and “Do young people need to worry about cancer?”, he introduced fundamental knowledge about cancer, including prevention, treatment, and common misconceptions. Drawing on his extensive clinical experience, he shared practical health insights and emphasized the importance of scientific awareness, proactive prevention, and early detection.

Following the lecture, a multi-disciplinary free consultation session was conducted simultaneously. Medical experts from Xuzhou First People’s Hospital provided services including ophthalmic screening, diabetes consultation, vascular ultrasound examinations, weight management evaluation, and musculoskeletal posture assessment, offering personalized health advice to participants.

The event served as a vivid example of collaboration between healthcare and education institutions through integrated Party and union initiatives. By providing professional medical knowledge and on-site health services, it strengthened the partnership between the university and the hospital while promoting a culture of health on campus. Participants expressed strong appreciation for the event and hoped that similar health programs would be organized more frequently in the future.

SEM and its partners will continue to deepen cooperation under the principle of “Party leadership supporting health protection,” working together to safeguard the well-being of faculty and students and contribute to the university’s continued development.
